Moscow airports tips and useful bits of information

How to get from Sheremetyevo 2 to the center of Moscow. That's complex enough to deserve a separate page.

How to get from Domodedovo to the center of Moscow. Easy. Just take a commuter train to Paveletskaya metro station. 100 roubles ($3-something) each way, 40 min. in transit which the same distance may take 2 or more hours by car in bad traffic.

Where to eat at Domodedovo. Only expensive and overcrowded places. Eat before travelling to Domodedovo. Leave it as fast as you can. It is an efficiently run terminal designed to process you fast.

Where to eat at Sheremetyevo. Staff cafeteria on the 4th floor. You will get stuffed easily for $5-6. If you learn nooks and crannies of Sheremetyevo it becomes a pretty pleasant place to hang out.

Examples of taxi prices. $50-60 will ALWAYS get you from any airport to the city center, $60 to pretty much anywhere in the city, and $90-110 is a comfortable amount for a trip between Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo, two of Moscow's major airports. You can find a $30 deal but that will put pressure on the driver to race, which may not be such a good idea given that the death rate on Russian roads is 3-5 times that of other countries..  [Winter 2008 rates.]
