This site is a compilation of information about
private drivers in Moscow (and elsewhere - see the "Outside of Moscow" page of www.cheap-moscow.com).
Please don't confuse this compilation of
information with a business entity. The webmaster can not be held accountable, in the
legal sense, for the services provided or not provided by the drivers listed here. Of
course I collect and share feedback. Of course I will step in should a problem develop.
Just don't hold me LEGALLY accountable. You hire the driver, not www.moscowdrivers.net or me, its administrator.
This is not an agency. I don't make
money from finding work for drivers listed there. At most they may make a small
contribution to the site upkeep - nothing that can even be compared to the value of work I
put into this project. Why do I maintain this site then? First, it is for your
convenience. I am regularly asked to assist in finding drivers, guides, or accommodation,
thus such projects as this one or www.cheap-moscow.com.
Second, I am available for hire myself, and that's where my financial interest is. Think
of this site as a frame around dear old me.
Services you are likely to find are provided
in the "local" style. Situation permitting, the driver may stop for a snack.
Or take his kids along. Or have seedlings for his dacha garden
plot on the back seat. No
"professionalism" in the western sense of the word. If you are not comfortable
with liberties local service people take in their clients' presence please contact a
proper western-managed company.
Screw ups do happen. With us they are
perhaps not as likely because the communication line between you and your driver is simple
and direct. They are still possible and still happen. Please don't take us to court
because you were late for an important meeting and lost a one million dollar contract.
We live in a probabilistic universe.
Speaking of crew-ups, let me
sweeten the pill. We do have provisions to minimize the probability of them happening and
to fix the consequences. Olesya (www.russiangirlfriday.com ) keeps the
master list of airport transfers and reminds us who is to go where. All of us have each
other's numbers and an idea of who is where, etc. Our mobile phones are fully charged and
there is some money on the account, and we are with the most reliable network operator
available in Moscow. Most last-minute emergencies get sorted out quick and easy. Feel
better now?
There are things beyond our control. We
aim to be at the airport half an hour before you are likely to appear out of the exit
gate. But I've seen burning busses in the middle of the main highway leading the the
airport, overturned tractor-trailers across the Ring Road, and fallen pedestrian
overpasses. Please realize that these things happen here more frequently than in North
America and Western Europe, and adjust your expectations accordingly.
